John W Henry has certainly revived the football club during his 18 months at the helm. Unlike the previous regime the American has delivered on his promises by making money available to enhance the playing squad and has supported Kenny Dalglish with his plans to rebuild the team and put it in a position where it can challenge for a title in the years to come. The foundation has certainly been set with their Carling Cup victory, but there must be a lot of supporters out there who must be thinking ‘if only’ given the amount of misfortune the Reds have had this season with missed penalties and the woodwork denying them vital points. Kenny has certainly got a squad capable of finishing regularly in the top four and he should look no further than the club’s owner for freeing up the millions to bring him the players he needs.
They say behind every good man, is a good woman and Mr Henry has certainly one of them and a glamorous one to boot in Ms Linda Pizzuti, who is rumoured to have told John W that it would be a ‘fantastically bad idea’ if they ever went out. Henry managed to get the date and hasn’t looked back since, making Linda well and truly the first lady of Anfield. Legend has it that it was she who pestered Henry to make an approach to buy Liverpool in the first place (Liverpool Echo) – the Kop will be forever grateful that she did as the football club is finally moving forward.
