Sweden are in the hunt for a new manager after Janne Andersson stepped down last year due to their failure to qualify for Euro 2024. Solskjaer has emerged as a candidate to step into the role, according to , as the Norwegian looks to get back into management for the first time since leaving Manchester United in 2021.

Former Sweden star and current IF Brommapojkarna manager Olof Mellberg and Australia women's boss Tony Gustavsson were the frontrunners as the SvFF wanted them to work together. However, talks with Mellberg have broken down and although the prospect of Gustavsson taking over is not over, the governing body are considering other options.

The former Molde manager has been angling for a new job recently, having reportedly been in talks with Besiktas before the Turkish team announced the appointment of former Portugal manager Fernando Santos.
