He recently revealed that ex-USMNT forward Aron Johannsson – who is also Icelandic-American – was a heavy influence on his choice to switch international allegiances, while USMNT stars Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna are both individuals who inspire him as well. The duo each represented the Bundesliga club in their teen years, with Pulisic now playing with AC Milan in Italy and Reyna on-loan from Dortmund in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.
