As per Mehmet Batuhan Agir [via Fabrizio Romano], the Bavarians have made contact with the club via the player's agents, Stellar Group, who are in Istanbul. They have decided to go after the French defender after their interest in Newcastle United's Kieran Trippier and Paris Saint-Germain's Nordi Mukiele has failed to bear any fruit.
Romano has also reported that the German side have had their first bid of €15 million (£12.8m/$16.2m) rejected by the club as they want a package closer to €30-35 million (£25-29m/$32-38m). This was also later confirmed by the club's Deputy Chairman Erden Timur.
